Another group of songs have been banned by NBC in a new letter to a popular radio station.
Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) has declared Falz – ‘This Is Nigeria’, Wande Coal – ‘Iskaba’, DJ Kaywise – See Mary See Jesus as unfit for the radio airwaves. In a letter to a popular radio station in Jos, the NBC banned the song from being played on radio because it contain vulgar and indecent lyrics.
Falz – ‘This Is Nigeria’ is a cover of Childish Gambino’s song ‘This Is America’, has stirred up a lot of debate, criticism and kudos as well because it dipicts Nigeria in its typical form. Apart from MURIC who raised and eye brow over the use of hijab in video, the NBC has joined in to ban the song from being played on radio stations.
Apparently Falz's line "this is Nigeria; look how we living now. everybody be criminal" has been flagged "vulgar" and the song is now declared "unfit for radio".— Folaranmi Folayan (@TheFavoredWoman) August 9, 2018
See why sometimes I can't blame our musicians if they choose to give social commentary a wide berth? pic.twitter.com/7bp3ZENluK
