Rapper, Remilekun Safaru popularly known as Reminisce who celebrates his birthday today, has revealed that his former signee, Ola Dips wanted to leave his label, LRR Records, at the time he terminated his contract.
The music executive said he didn’t have any problem with the ‘Lalakukulala’ crooner. He admitted that he was surprised to see Ola Dips’ request to leave the label, Reminisce said he granted him the permission to move on within the period of five minutes.
In Reminisce’s words: “Ola Dips wrote me that he wanted to leave, and I think my lawyer was with me at that time I was informed. Immediately, I mean on the spot, I granted his request. I will say that was the easiest label issue being resolved in the country so far, I don’t like to make noise about it and I just wanted to avoid all the drama.
“But that’s the truth. He came to me and requested to leave. Then, I granted his request by terminating our contract with him. On the spot, it wasn’t even up to two minutes… As for me, I’m cool with him, I don’t have any problem with him. As you can clearly see, I am a barrack, soldier goes, soldier come…”
When asked if he was considering another artiste for signing to his record label, the Baba Oja as fondly called said, “I’m done with artistes and their self-entitlements.” This is the first time Reminisce will comment on Ola Dips’ exit from his label imprint. But the latter hasn’t been quiet about it.
Recall that in 2019, Ola Dips aka Omo Iya Aje, in Maybe, the song he released after his exit, detailed his struggles with Reminisce. In the song, Ola Dips lamented that Reminisce was constantly reminding him how he wasn’t making money for the record label. Using his contract with Reminisce as an example, Ola Dips advised upcoming artiste to stay off from non profitable contracts with record labels.
