A chartered military aircraft King Air 350 has crashed close to Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja on Sunday afternoon, February 21 after reporting engine failure enroute Minna, Niger state killing all 6 people on board.
According to a video of the incident shared on Twitter, many people could be seen gathered around with a crashed plane in flames with firemen attempting to put out the fire.
Aviation minister Hadi Sirika confirmed the development in a short statement on Twitter Sunday afternoon.
“A military aircraft King Air 350 has just crashed short of our Abuja runway after reporting engine failure enroute Minna. It appears to be fatal. We should remain calm & wait for the outcome of investigation by the military, while we pray for the departed soul/souls if any,” the minister said.
